iPowerboat welcomes ROV training to new facility.

iPowerboat welcomes sub-sea inspection training company, Blue ROVer to our new facility near Kinlochleven. ROV (Remotely Operate Vehicle) are highly advanced pieces of equipment used for underwater inspections and surveys. This inaugural IMCA course is 3 weeks in duration, and students have travelled from as far as Southampton and Ireland to complete it.

The first week is classroom based, with week 2 starting the practical experience. Blue ROVer used our new facility as a base for students learning the ropes. Our new training centre provided modern, clean and a great environment for them, and we are delighted to open up the facility to other types marine training, which enhances what our new facility can offer.

Students were tasked to inspect our moorings, carry out a hull survey on our vessels (which is also quite handy for us!) They also found a small wrecked boat in the loch, as well as something that resembles a skip.

Blue ROVer have made their training system mobile, allowing them to operate from different sites within Loch Leven. They’ll also be using the former pier structure in Kinlochleven as a feature to survey and explore. The ROV control vehicle is a converted ambulance providing a really well put together package.

I’m delighted to welcome Blue ROVer to Kinlochleven and our new facility on the shores of Loch Leven. Marine training is at the heart of what we do, and the training Blue ROVer provides fits in within our vision for our Marine Training Centre.

It’s also been a welcomed boost of business for some local accommodation providers within the village as students require accommodation for 3 week blocks.

From what I have personally seen, Blue ROVer put together a very well thought out and professional training package, and we as a company are delighted to be welcoming them back in 2022.
