RYA Helmsman training on our steel workboat.
This 2 day course is an ideal platform for those who are new to motor cruising and wish to develop their boat handling skills. The course focuses on slow boat handling skills as well as under taking short in-shore trips.
This course can be attended at one of our training centres in either Kinlochleven in the Scottish Highlands or on your own vessel. We can also run this course on commercial vessels and workboats too.
On your course you will be taught the following;
Boat preparation for going to sea
Boat handling
Types of craft
Engines and drives
Engine operation and maintenance
Safety and seamanship
Collision regulations & rules of the road
Securing to a mooring buoy
Mooring alongside
Man overboard recovery (MOB)

Minimum Age: 16
Course content: Boat preparation for going to sea, boat handling, types of craft, engines and drives, engine operation and maintenance, safety and seamanship, collision regulations & rules of the road, securing to a mooring buoy, mooring alongside, man overboard recovery (MOB).
Ability after the course: Able to helm a motor cruiser on familiar inshore waters.
Suitable for: Adults who are wishing to explore their local coastline and inshore islands.
