STCW ELEMENTARY FIRST AID
STCW PROFICIENCY IN ELEMENTARY FIRST AID.
This course can be attended at one of our training centres in either Kinlochleven in the Scottish Highlands or at James Watt Dock Marina in Greenock, just west of Glasgow on the Clyde Estuary.
This one day course provides a good mixture of theoretical and practical sessions covering basic first aid and Basic Life Support skills on maritime commercial vessels. The course will run as follows;

First aid aims, Responsibilities, maritime incidences, actions in an emergency and primary survey.

CPR including drowning, secondary survey including top to toe and recovery position, casualty transportation, respiratory system and choking.

Disorders of circulation including shock, Cold shock, Hypo and Hyperthermia, Seasickness and Dehydration, Wounds and Bleeding.

Burns, first aid kits including Category C Medical Stores (MSN 1905)

There is continual assessment throughout the course via oral questioning and practical demonstration and participation. Successful candidates will be awarded the STCW 2010 Certificate in Elementary First Aid.
EXTRA INFORMATION
Students are required to bring a valid form of identification such as driving licence, passport or ships discharge book.
This course has no formal expiry date, although RYA Commercial Endorsement holders are required to provide proof of refresher training every 5 years.
