RYA Powerboat Level 1
Introduction to powerboating.
This fun and educational course is an introduction to powerboating techniques for launching and recovering a boat from a road trailer, everyday boat handling skills and the use of safety equipment typically found on board.
These courses run at both our training centres in Kinlochleven in the Highlands and at our Greenock training centre near Glasgow.
The RYA Powerboat Level 1 course is great for children, young persons and adults who want to learn how to use these vessels, which allows them to have an understanding of safety when afloat. If you are a family intending to go afloat, this ensures your younger and older crew members understand the principles of powerboating. The course is essentially practical based meaning you get as much time on the water as possible and with only a maximum of 3 people on the course, a good amount of that time will be behind the wheel. When you are not helming, you’ll be an active crew member.
The team of instructors are chosen for their superior knowledge, teaching style, and sense of humour. The courses run all year, but we suggest between April - October as being the best time to get afloat when new to boating. Our training centres have sheltered waters to practice in, so even if the weather forecast is not looking great, we can still get you afloat to have a great day.
